Tilt meters and inclinometers need a solid footing to be able to accurately measure the small changes in tilt they are designed for. This can be difficult on soft or granular surfaces like snow, mud, sand, and more. Using a mounting plate spreads the load of the instrument over a larger footprint, helping to prevent settling of the instrument and the potential need for a site visit to re-level the instrument.This mounting plate has divots for the feet or our PTM102 tilt meter to sit in, making leveling it while holding the instrument’s orientation much easier. There are also through holes and provided 1/4″-28 hardware to mount one of our MEMS Inclinometers directly to the plate. These inclinometers do not need to be as precisely leveled as the PTM series and mounting them directly to the plate has been very effective in keeping the instrument from being blown around or otherwise disturbed during deployments. The 6061 Aluminium can be drilled to allow the plate to be mounted to engineering surfaces such as floors, walls, or support members of structures that need to be monitored.Unless your deployment is on a concrete pad or hard rock inside an instrument shelter, an inclinometer mounting plate can speed up your installation!
