The silver lapel pin and decoration are hand forged from one piece of silver, and as a result, it was a technical challenge to keep the pin regular and the decorative end chaotic and crackled like the guitar playing that inspired it. This silver lapel pin is a one-off piece consequently there is only this one available. This pin is the first pin in my ongoing series of unique hand sculpted jewellery.Music As InspirationI am synaesthetic which is a neurological trait where the senses are crossed. Therefore I have a strong visual impression of shape, colour, movement and sometimes texture when I hear music. This silver lapel pin is inspired by what I see when I listen to music. As a result, the twisted shapes in this silver lapel pin are little snippets of electric guitar music made tangible by my synaesthesia. To me, electric guitar looks like lightning made of mercury. Hence this silver lapel pin curls and twists in response to crackled and distorted electric guitar playing. As a result, this eliminates the need for newly mined silver in my work. I melted a piece of old silverware down.
