I have set the synthetic sapphire in this curled necklace in a punch setting and as a result it looks as if it is emerging from the silver. I have made the handmade chain from square wire which consequently gives the whole silver necklace a more structured and unusual look.Music As InspirationI am synaesthetic which is a neurological trait where the senses are crossed. As a result, I have a strong visual impression of shape, colour, movement and sometimes texture when I hear music. This silver necklace is inspired by what I see when I listen to music. The twisted shapes in this necklace are little snippets of electric guitar music made tangible by my synaesthesia. To me, electric guitar looks like lightning made of mercury. Hence this silver necklace on its handmade chain curls and twists in response to crackled and distorted electric guitar playing. Made by hand using a freeform hammering technique I worked this necklace until it felt right listening to the music that inspired it. The handmade chain is made using traditional jewellery techniques, each link painstakingly shaped and joined individually. Hence the link sizes in this handmade chain are intentionally not uniform. This is to match the irregularity and style of the rest of this silver necklace.Deep Blue StoneThe synthetic sapphire is a deep, clear blue round faceted stone.
