DescriptionNatural Garnet NecklaceThis unusual natural garnet necklace is hand-forged in sterling silver. It is both strong and delicate with a deep red garnet entwined amongst the silver.  It has a chaotic triple chain made from different kinds of chain to give interest and texture around to the easy to do up clasp at the back.  The blood-red garnet is a natural uncut stone 2cm long. Hold it up to the light to reveal its full drama. I never make the same thing twice consequently this natural garnet necklace is unique.Inspired by Music and SynaesthesiaI am synaesthetic which is a neurological trait where my senses cross.  Therefore I have a strong visual impression of shape, colour, movement and sometimes texture when I hear music.  This natural garnet necklace is inspired by what I see when I listen to electric guitar, with a hint of bass and drums in the red of the garnet. Electric guitar looks silver to me, floor toms look like red blood cells, and bass guitar will often be a deep red. The sterling silver I used to make this natural garnet necklace comes from old and broken silverware and cutlery, the chain is either handmade or reused from other necklaces too. Consequently, I can eliminate the need for newly mined silver in my work. I melted a piece of old silverware down. Then I hand forged the resulting ingot of molten silver into this natural garnet necklace. This necklace has a full UK Hallmark on the clasp which guarantees it is sterling silver.
