DescriptionPearl Ring GlamourA hand-sculpted pearl ring made from sterling silver and rivet set with a flat-backed, dome pearl. Certainly an edgy and darkly stylish pearl ring in sterling silver with a wide, deeply textured band curved to sit comfortably on your finger. I made it from one continuous piece of silver and while making it I constantly tried it on to make sure it follows the contours of the finger. Consequently, it is very comfortable to wear, an essential consideration when purchasing a pearl ring.Music As InspirationI am synaesthetic which is a neurological trait where the senses are crossed. Therefore I have a strong visual impression of shape, colour, movement and sometimes texture when I hear music. This pearl ring is inspired by what I see when I listen to music. As a result, the twisted shapes in this ring are little snippets of electric guitar music made tangible by my synaesthesia. To me, electric guitar looks like lightning made of mercury. Hence this pearl ring curls and twists in response to crackled and distorted electric guitar playing. As a result, this eliminates the need for newly mined silver in my work. I melted a piece of old silverware down. Then hand forged the resulting ingot of molten silver into this free-form sculptural pearl ring.Unique RingA one-off handmade pearl ring, the lustrous pearl represents the occasional flashes of white that I also see in the music as it changes.
