The pink tourmaline is a natural uncut stone, and the blue topaz is a 7mm round faceted stone. I never make the same thing twice consequently this pink tourmaline and blue topaz ring is unique. This unusual piece is number 34 from my ongoing series of unique hand-sculpted rings.Inspired by Music and SynaesthesiaI am synaesthetic which is a neurological trait where my senses cross. Therefore I have a strong visual impression of shape, colour, movement and sometimes texture when I hear music. This pink tourmaline and blue topaz ring is inspired by what I see when I listen to an electric guitar. Mostly electric guitar is silver but it often contains flashes of other colours usually cooler pinks and blues which is why I have included both a pink tourmaline and a blue topaz in this ring. As a result, the shapes in this unusual silver ring are little snippets of guitar playing made visible by my synaesthesia. The sterling silver I used to make this pink tourmaline and blue topaz ring comes from old and broken silverware and cutlery. Consequently, I can eliminate the need for newly mined silver in my work. I melted a piece of old silverware down. Then I hand forged the resulting ingot of molten silver into this pink tourmaline and blue topaz ring. This ring has a full UK Hallmark which guarantees it is sterling silver.
